Meet the Serva Fidem Team

Serva Fidem has expanded from the executive team at Dowling Catholic High School (DCHS) to include member schools across Iowa and surrounding states in the last few years. Our coordinators have each had personal encounters with Jesus Christ and continue to grow in their faith so they can support and shape the next generation of Catholic students. Meet each of our staff members and coordinators.

Nathan is an alumnus of Dowling Catholic High School in West Des Moines, Iowa. He studied philosophy at the University of Saint Thomas in Saint Paul, Minnesota and earned his master’s degree in Social Thought at the University of Chicago.

Addie has been with Serva Fidem for nine years. In 2017, she started the first Serva Fidem groups at Dowling Catholic High School and brought the model to flourish. She is a graduate of the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John’s in Minnesota and lives in the Des Moines area with her husband, Drew, and their daughter.

Drew is a husband and father that is humbled by the blessing to introduce young people to Jesus Christ.  Prior to serving as a coordinator, he taught fourth grade in public schools for many years. Teaching was certainly rewarding, but he thought nothing can be as rewarding as helping a person encounter Jesus and the beauty of the Church.

It is his prayer that his Serva Fidem groups will be a safe place where students can encounter Jesus through prayer, open dialogue, and accountability in Christian brotherhood.

Jesus first pierced Peyton’s heart when she was a junior at Dowling Catholic High School. Little did she know that it would be life-changing and she would serve the same ministry that shaped her!

Serva Fidem came into Peyton’s life at an instrumental time and allowed her to soar in discipleship in her college years at Iowa State. Her desire is to serve students who have that same longing of wanting something more and ultimately realizing that “it is Jesus who you seek when you dream of happiness” (JPII)!

Serva Fidem changed the trajectory of Caroline’s life. Growing up Catholic, her faith was more of a routine than a relationship. Despite this, she can remember a consistent longing for something more.

In high school, Serva Fidem became an answer to that prayer. The friendships Caroline formed provided her with a strong foundation that led her deeper and deeper into friendship with Christ–something she had been searching for her whole life. She is excited to bring this same life-changing program to new places and people!

William has been blessed by God with a wonderful wife and five great children. He has worked in ministry for 20 years in archdiocesan, parish, youth ministry, and theology teaching in a Catholic high school.

In his years of ministry, he was part of many programs, retreats, and service opportunities, and he is excited for what Serva Fidem can bring to the Columbus Catholic school community. God made us as social creatures, and he loves that this program can help youth grow in faith-filled friendships.

Ruth first encountered Serva Fidem when her husband worked as a coordinator at Dowling. When they returned to Dubuque, they knew this kind of ministry needed to exist there, too. Ruth was struck by the teens’ authenticity being formed through it, and she is thrilled to offer the same opportunity to Wahlert students. She believes intimacy with Christ, space for the deep questions of the human heart, and authentic friendship are some of the greatest gifts we can give young people, and Serva Fidem helps us foster those gifts. What she experienced at Wahlert through this work is exactly the kind of Church she wants her own children to grow up in.

Katie is a Council Bluffs, Iowa native returning to her roots at Saint Albert Catholic School after getting her bachelor’s degree at the University of Northern Iowa in 2021 and serving for four wonderful years as a missionary with FOCUS.

She is overjoyed to receive the opportunity to be the Campus Minster and Serva Fidem Coordinator with a community that is truly dear to her heart. Katie is looking forward to being part of what tremendous wonders the Lord is already doing at SA and can’t wait for the great adventures ahead. “You must believe in mercy to the point of believing that you are a joy for Jesus.”

Lilly Boenker is a cradle Catholic from a small farm in Missouri just an hour outside of St. Louis. Now a resident of the great state of Iowa, she has taught English and is now the Campus Minister at Xavier High School in Cedar Rapids.

She has fallen more in love with Jesus every year, especially during her graduate studies at the Augustine Institute in Denver, where she received her master’s degree in Pastoral Theology. She wants all people to know the unique love that Jesus Christ has for each one of us. St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta, pray for us!

The best gift Lilly received was a mentor providing her with the support and encouragement to pursue a real relationship with Christ. She is blessed to be able to share that same gift with those in the Regis Catholic Schools community as the Director of Student Discipleship. Her prayer is that each student may have a real encounter with the love of Christ and know that they are never alone.

She is excited to be coordinating Serva Fidem and cannot wait to see the Lord work abundantly through this ministry.

Lily is the campus minister for McDonell Area Catholic Schools in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. She grew up in Madison, where she was raised Catholic and returned to her faith through friends and a small group. She went to UW-Eau Claire for college, where she studied psychology and sign language.

Lily has always felt called to serve high school students in some capacity, and she believes this job is where God called her to live out that call. She feels passionately about Serva Fidem because her small group, though not through Serva Fidem, taught her the true love of God and how she is called to respond to that truth. She hopes to provide students with the same space to have an encounter with Christ.

Izzy is the Serva Fidem Coordinator at Aquinas Catholic High School in La Crosse. She had a personal encounter with Jesus when she was in high school and was able to plunge into a small group that changed the trajectory of her life. The support and community of a small group challenged her and drew her deeper into the heart of Christ.

When Izzy received the opportunity to be a coordinator, she knew the Lord was inviting her to be a vessel of His love in this particular way. She cannot wait to see the abundant ways the Lord pours out His grace on this ministry.
